The real danger comes from using materials that bind to themselves and don't release like the first two posters have mentioned. Autoerotic Asphyxiation, as it's known, is a growing trend in some corners of the Internet and it's had some disastrous results. You instinct to let someone else know what's going on is a good idea, but if something bad happened, they would only have a few minutes to react. Your self-narrate piece of the other day had chocking games in it, and while it can be sexy, it can also be very dangerous. So please be careful. We (I) want to read your stuff for a long, long, time.

You can really do it with anything. If you have rope. Make a handle and then run the rope through that and it creates the "choke collar" effect. The point is to make something that only tightens around you when you pull on it and will immediately loosen when you release the pull. Another way you can be doubly safe is by buying safety release products.. such as this: http://www.softlinesinc.com/order.html?pid=13 These are called "panic snaps" mostly found with horse supplies. You simply pull down on the buckle and voila you are immediately released. Or you can teach yourself a simple knot that just requires one simple tug and it falls apart. The "quick release knot" http://horses.about.com/od/basiccare/ss/quickrelease.htm

"I know your Sir would never cause you harm."

yeah, i knew he wouldn't request me to do such a thing if it would hurt me. i was more worried about my choice of technique.

thanks for the advice though! that sounds like a good way to do it. i have yet to procure a leash OR a collar, but they're definitely on my list...

Here's my suggestion for when you are alone.. don't use a belt, use a leather leash. Loop the leash through the handle so it creates a "choke collar". You can then use the clip part of the loop to attach it to anything. While laying on a bed, all you have to do is move away slightly and the loop around your neck will tighten. All you have to do is move back and it will loosen up instantly. Just remember the point is not to push it on your own. It's good that safety was of the most importance. I know your Sir would never cause you harm.
