Review: Tantus Ryder

The Ryder is a pretty straightforward buttplug, and is now my “intermediate” or “pushing the envelope” plug. The two plugs I use most regularly – the njoy Pure Plug medium and the Fun Factory Bootie – are small and comfortable. They titillate me when I wear them while going about my daily business. They don’t, however, scream HERE I AM, IN YOUR BUTT!

The Ryder kinda does do that. There’s no way I can wear it and forget it’s there. It may not be huge, but it is noticeable.

Sometimes, that’s what I want, though.

Inserting the plug was quite easy. From the picture, I thought the Ryder was oval, but the tip is actually tapered, which helps a lot. It’s made of a soft, plush silicone that’s more similar to Vixen Vixskin than the typical Tantus-styled glossy, firm silicone. When I hold the base and shake the toy, the plug part flops from side to side. Ergo – very soft. I took it all in with no difficulty until the last half inch or so, which was a bit overwhelming. But I finally eased the plug in and lay on my bed, breathing slightly heavily, feeling very full.

Once I had the plug in, I could feel the wonders of that little base. It’s short, narrow, and made of soft material, and sat between my asscheeks completely unobtrusively. No sharp bits poking into my sizeable ass, which was my problem with the Tantus Infinity plug.

I don’t think I’ll be using this plug regularly, or for long term wear. I can see myself using it during masturbation sessions when I crave that full feeling, or with a partner, or for Sir. I think this is a good “standard” plug to have – if you only wanted to buy one, say, since it’s not so small that you’d get tired of it and want to step up to something bigger, but it’s not so big that it’d take you forever to work up to it. That said, I think it’d be better to buy this plug if you’ve already played with your ass at least a little bit already.

This plug, like all Tantus products, is made of medical-grade silicone, which is body-safe and non-porous, and can be shared after being sterilized. To sterilize the plug, you can wash it with 10% bleach solution, put it in the top shelf of the dishwasher with no soap, or boil it for at least 5 minutes. Also, silicone toys are not compatible with silicone lubes.
