Review: Laid D.1

When Babeland offered the Laid D.1 for review, I was intrigued because I’d never heard of the company “Laid” before. It’s a relatively new company¹ based in Norway, and its sleek designs looked promising. I have to admit, I was mostly drawn in because it’s based in Europe, and I really like the two European sex toy companies that I know of².

The D.1 is a mid-sized, silicone dildo that’s marketed as a G-spotter; its pièce de résistance is its asymmetrical head that’s provides both a rounded surface and a pointed surface to stimulate your G-spot. You can supposedly switch between them with a gentle twist. Also, it’s bright blue! Seriously, more manufacturers need to move away from purple and pink, and incorporate bright, candy-colors into their product lines.

Unfortunately, its revolutionary design doesn’t work all that well in practice. It was quite unintuitive for me to use, and it took me a while to find my G-spot with it, although I did manage after a while. I couldn’t feel much of a difference between the two surfaces; except I could tell when the pointy side wasn’t on my G-spot because I could feel it poking my vaginal walls. I tried the “handle” end, as well, but it was too pointy for me to find pleasurable. Since the surface is so smooth, also, if I get lube on the handle or on my hand, things get slippery very quickly, which makes maneuvering the dildo difficult.

During my lengthy toy reviewing stint, I’ve found designs that really work for me; and maybe I’m just being inflexible, but now that I know what works, I’m loath to deviate much from it. For G-spotting, I like the wide, flattened head of the Lelo Gigi or Lelo Ella, and the large, ball-like head of the Pure Wand or Ophoria No. 3. The blunt-head style took a bit of maneuvering at first, but felt amazing once I got the hang of it, and the ball-head style honed in on my G-spot almost instantly. Both of these styles were more effective than the D.1. And when I’m not using a dildo to stimulate my G-spot, I prefer toys that are heavily textured (e.g. the Tantus Echo), while the D.1 is perfectly smooth.

However? I am terribly enamored with the Laid D.1 Stone, which is made of – get this – Black Norwegian Moonstone, or Blue Pearl Larvikite. It’s absolutely gorgeous. Damn, I should have tried to review this one instead. Okay, it’s exactly the same shape as the silicone one, but maybe the material would improve upon it somehow?

Anyway, to sterilize the Laid D.1, you can wash it with 10% bleach solution, put it in the top shelf of the dishwasher with no soap, or boil it for at least 5 minutes. Also, silicone toys are not compatible with silicone lubes.

I guess I just know what I like, and the Laid D.1 isn’t it. It is a well-made dildo, though, and perhaps it will suit your needs better than mine.

Review: Vixen Creations Champlette

I have to be honest: I requested the Vixen Creations Champlette purely because of the glittery silver. I’ve been trying to get my hands on a glittery dildo ever since I realized Vixen made them in that color. (I already had the Leo; the company I requested the Mistress from only had it in turquoise…) I mean, can you blame me? The Champlette turned out to be a satisfying choice, and not just because of the color, as I will soon explain.

The Champlette is actually a smaller version of the Champ, which for some reason has been discontinued. It is a short and stumpy dildo, with a small-ish head that tapers out to a wonderfully thick 1 ⁵/₈“. This dildo didn’t strike me as particularly unique in any way, but turned out to feel much more interesting than I would have expected.

Due to the taper, the toy slides in very easily, and its relative girthiness isn’t overwhelming at all. I wouldn’t have pegged this toy as a G-spotting toy, since it doesn’t have a very pronounced head or curve, but the bump on the head ended up stimulating my G-spot beautifully. I also very much enjoyed clenching around the toy’s girth. I found that the toy felt good when I thrusted with it, but also when I left it stationary.

I feel like this toy would be a bit much anally, but it would be simple enough to warm up with the first inch or two, and save the rest for when your butt has become more experienced.

The Champlette has a harness-compatible base, and I can already tell I would love having this dildo strapped on. This picture really doesn’t do the toy justice, because it looks much more distractingly shimmery and sparkly in person. (I can see it going so well with my Aslan Jaguar harness.) Review: Ophoria Beyond no. 3

The first product I tried out for Ophoria left me feeling disappointed… but the second has more than made up for that.

Meet the Ophoria Beyond no. 3. I consider it the unsung wonder of G-spotters. People don’t make nearly as much noise about it as they do about the njoy Pure Wand, but I think they should. As much noise; or maybe even much more noise.

The thing about the Beyond no. 3 is that it hones in on my G-spot without fail, as the Pure Wand does. Most toys require a little maneuvering, but not the Beyond no. 3. I simply slide it in and start thrusting. I’m guessing it’s the pronounced ball-shape at the head of the toy that makes it so easy; coupled with the curve.

Pure Wand die-hards would probably point out that the Beyond no. 3 lacks the heft and hardness of the Pure Wand, as it’s made of silicone, not steel. For me, this is a plus because, while I love the Pure Wand, sometimes it’s too intense. I end up being preoccupied by how I can’t just go nuts with the Pure Wand because of the hard material it’s made of. With the Beyond no. 3, I can. It’s also easier to use because it’s lighter.

Like the rest of the Ophoria toys, the Beyond no. 3 is designed to sort of look like a flower-bud or a seed-pod, which I quite like. There are three ridges below the ball, but I can’t feel them at all. And as with the first Ophoria toy I tried, this one has a nub near the base. I still have no idea what it’s for. I can’t fit the entire toy inside me anyway (perhaps 0.5″ – 1″ left over?) so the nub doesn’t really come into play. Finally, the toy has a nifty little finger hold which is really convenient, and makes thrusting with the toy extremely easy. You could also probably put a bullet through it if you wanted.

The only negative things I can think to say about this toy are: it has a tiny, tiny seam running along it. But it’s barely visible and can’t be felt, either. And I don’t see myself using this anally any time soon. That’s not the toy’s forte/purpose, in my opinion. (Whereas the smaller end of the Pure Wand is totally appropriate for anal usage, even for beginners, I think.) Also I totally wanted it in charcoal, but oh well.

Review: Bend-Over Beginner Kit

As you well know, I’m quite the strap-on aficionado, so I was really interested in trying out the Bend Over Beginner kit. It comes with (almost) everything you need for strap-on sex, and the pieces are quality, too:

- Tantus Silk Medium
- 2 O-rings of differing sizes

The only possible addition, or improvement, I could suggest, would be to include a good anal sex book, or DVD. And maybe a small bottle of water-based lube. Still, this is a pretty comprehensive collection of items to have if, as the name of the product suggests, you’re a strap-on sex beginner.

I’m going to go through the parts of the kit one by one. Also, since the name of this product is the “Bend Over” kit, and the dildos are on the smaller side, I’m assuming this product is intended for anal sex, though I’m sure you could use it vaginally as well:

Tantus Silk Small

Upon looking at this dildo, I knew it wasn’t going to do much for me. In both my pussy and my ass, it just felt like a finger. I don’t really see the point in spending money on a Silk Small when using my own fingers would have a similar effect. The one male partner I tried this with wasn’t impressed, and said he could take more, even though I was one of the first people he’d tried anal play with.

On the plus side? The Silk Small is perfect for people who haven’t had much anal experience, but crave the intimacy and intensity of being fucked by a strapped-on partner as opposed to being fingered. I could have seen myself using this on the Optimist, who loved having his butt played with, but was already overwhelmed even when I was only using two of my fingers on him. The Silk Small is, obviously, harness-compatible, is longer than my fingers and has a nice curve, so is probably perfect for seeking out a G-spot/prostate.

Tantus Silk Medium

The Silk Medium was more satisfactory. As it’s thicker, I liked it in my ass a lot better, and actually liked using it in my pussy quite a bit, which was surprising due to it’s small size. Again, the curve was key.

Overall, these two dildos are probably an excellent choice for someone with little to no experience with anal play. The dildos are smooth, simple, uncomplicated, and small. When I first experimented with anal sex, I was very interested and excited, but also pretty nervous. I don’t see either of these dildos being intimidating to someone who might be a little nervous and insecure about trying something new.

Sportsheets Vibrating Velvet Harness

The harness, like the dildos, is also very straightforward and easy to use. It has double-straps (that go under your butt as opposed to being worn like underwear) made of nylon, and remind me of backpack straps. You also adjust them the same way you would backpack straps. Very easy. You can also wash the entire thing by throwing it in the laundry. The first harness I ever owned was the Aslan Jaguar, and while it’s gorgeous, I wasn’t quite sure how to take care of the leather. The Velvet Harness is definitely lower maintenance.

In addition to being easy to use, the harness is pretty versatile. It has a pocket where you can insert a bullet vibe (I opted to insert the Lelo Mia, which fit pretty well, except for the base protruding out of it). You can swap out different sized O-rings with four snap closures on the front of the harness. The harness can also fit people whose hips are up to 50″. If you’re a smaller person, like me, and don’t like the straps trailing behind you, you can always trim them and use a lighter to melt the edges and prevent them from fraying.

Personally, I don’t really like the harness that much because it’s a little bulky, and doesn’t fit my body as seamlessly as the other harnesses I own. Ideally, when I wear a harness, I want to feel like it #1 isn’t there, or #2 is an extension of my body. I don’t feel like that when I wear the Velvet harness; this harness feels like I’m strapping on a piece of material, that is sitting conspicuously on top of my cunt, and acting as the base for a dildo. I also don’t feel very connected to my cock anymore, since the triangular piece of velvety material is quite thick. Finally, I don’t find the fuzzy material particularly sensual. I got the purple set, but I think the kit also comes in black. I would’ve liked that color better than the bright purple, too.

So that’s the Bend Over Beginner kit. I ended up giving all the pieces of this kit away, since none of them really worked for me. However, I’m glad this kit exists and I see it being a good purchase for someone who’s just beginning to explore the awesome spectrum of anal play.

Review: Ophoria Pleasure No. 6

It looks like a trend is forming… of me getting toys that look gorgeous, but functionally just don’t fit my wants.

I’ve known about Ophoria for a while. I’ve wanted to try their products because they just look so pretty. The Ophoria Pleasure No. 6, which Fascinations sent me to review, definitely doesn’t disappoint on that front. I like the soft shade of pink it comes in, and the swirls along the shaft. It almost looks like… a flower. The only thing that bothered me about its appearance was the seam, which isn’t terribly conspicuous, but takes away a little from the overall elegant look.

The silicone it’s made out of is plush, firm, and lovely to touch. It would be a great addition to my strap-on collection, and would make a nice, standard dildo to warm up to bigger, bumpier or curvier dildos. It even has a suction-cup base, and would be great to use anally since it’s on the smaller and firmer side.

Unfortunately? I didn’t enjoy using it because of one tiny detail: the bump just underneath the dildo’s head. It’s as irritating as hell. It doesn’t feel sharp or painful, just… like a small, bumpy thing poking my vaginal walls. As I put the dildo inside me, my brow furrowed in mildly discomfited befuddlement. It was enough to distract me from the feeling of the dildo as a whole.

So, honestly, that’s all I have to say about that. I don’t really know why the bump is there, outside of being an overall design staple in this and some of their other products, like the Beyond No. 3. Maybe the bump feels pleasurable to some people?

Anyway, it’s a shame, because in all other respects, the dildo is not earth-shattering, but definitely decent. I ended up giving it to one of my friends who was curious about experimenting with strap-on play, and she was quite happy to receive it.

Review: Tantus Vamp

I really don’t like Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight series. I tried reading the first book when I was at home during break, because I had nothing else to do and my little sister had a copy, but I got bored halfway through. I watched the first two movies, but it was only because my friends, and my sister’s fiance, roped me into it. I promptly decided that the only way I could really enjoy the movies would be to make them into a drinking game. I think there are plenty of vampires out there who are more badass than Edward Cullen. However, when I first heard about the Tantus Vamp, and read its description that not-so-subtly harkened to the Twilight series, my curiosity was piqued.

So what does the Vamp have in common with Edward Cullen? The Vamp may not be super-strong, watch you while you sleep, protect you from baddies, or want to suck your blood, but it does sparkle under light. And if you toss it in the fridge (or under hot water) it retains that temperature.

When I took the Vamp out of its packaging, I wasn’t particularly impressed. It wasn’t curved, the sparkles weren’t all that evident, and it wasn’t a pretty color like most of my dildoes. I guess the sparkles were meant to be more noticeable under light, and at typical room lighting the toy looks more shimmery and pearly, not sparkly per se. I also noticed it was quite girthy, but girth has never been something I particularly cared about. Despite my first impression, though, I very much liked how the Vamp felt when I put it to use. Like all Tantus dildos, the Vamp is made of silicone, which is body-safe and non-porous, and can be shared after being sterilized. Also, silicone toys are not compatible with silicone lubes. The Vamp’s base makes the toy useable in a strap-on harness, or for anal play.

I don’t have much to say about the Vamp, but it definitely exceeded my expectations. I may not be a fan of Twilight, but I am a fan of the Vamp.

Review: Vixen Creations Mistress

I have two categories for my dildoes. Sometimes the dildo doesn’t fall into either category, and I think it’s lame. Sometimes the dildo falls in both categories, which is pretty sweet. But, basically, the two categories are: #1 dildoes I want to fuck myself with, and #2 dildoes I want to fuck other people with.

The Vixen Creations Mistress falls very much into the second category. Ever since I saw it in sex toy reviews or sex toy stores, my thought on it was: I must strap that cock on ASAP!

I mean, first of all, look at that lovely, bright shade of turquoise. I’ve also seen pictures of the Mistress in other alluring colors, such as orange and sparkly-clear, but (un?)fortunately Pinkcherry.com doesn’t carry those options. And then there’s its minimally realistic appearance, i.e. it has a head and a shaft, but otherwise straddles the line between realistic and non-realistic. And then the name: Mistress. Sexy without being cheesy.

I felt just as strongly that the Mistress belonged on my crotch when I put it to the test. Its slim & modest size made sense on my small body. Also, the first time I watched a queer porno and saw the actress continually palming and fondling her strap-on even when a scene wasn’t happening, I didn’t get it. When I strapped on the Mistress? The “depth” of the hole can be useful, though, since you can insert the provided watch bullet all the way in, not with the cap hanging out like most dildoes, and wear it with the bullet in for added stimulation. I felt more vibrations when wearing it than when using it on myself, though. The provided bullet comes with a retrieval cord, but you can also squeeze the middle of the dildo to pop the bullet out. Putting lube on the bullet also makes insertion and retrieval easier.

The Mistress is made of silicone, which is body-safe and non-porous, and can be shared after being sterilized. Review: njoy Pure Wand

Ah, the Pure Wand. The Holy Grail of g-spot toys. Sexbloggers far and wide have heralded it’s magical, squirt-worthy properties. The many reviews that have already been written probably already adequately describe just how wonderful the Pure Wand is; nevertheless, I’m adding my perspective to the mix, hoping that it will enlighten at least a handful of people.

When Tickle offered to send me a Pure Wand to review, I actually cheered. I got it in the mail, hurriedly took it out of the package, and opened the trademark, elegant njoy black box with pink satin lining.

The Pure Wand was intimidating. It’s not enormous or anything like that, but c’mon. It’s 1.5lbs of steel. My first thought: you could probably kill someone if you clobbered them with it. My second: that hard, unyielding, heavy thing was meant for my pussy? The third: hmm, shiny steel is pretty sexy.

So it was intimidating, but in a very sexy sort of way.

For a while, I did nothing but open the box and take it out, admiring and feeling the weight. I have to admit, after hearing about the Pure Wand making women squirt, I worried a little about whether the Pure Wand would “work” on me or not. What if it didn’t?

Anyway, I finally got around to trying it out. I put down a towel, just in case. I dabbed on a few drops of lube – I didn’t need much with its smooth surface – and went to town.

The end with the small “ball” made for a good warm-up. It tickled, teased and tantalized my g-spot until my wrists began to ache. The large-ball-end was pretty heavy, and thrusting while holding that end for an extended amount of time is tiring.

Oh, also, since the Pure Wand is steel, i.e. nonporous, you can share it. Make sure to sterilize it via boiling, bleaching (with 10% solution) or dishwashing (top shelf, no soap) before sharing. Sterilize it as well if you’ve used it anally but want to use it vaginally the next time. Germs + vag = no.

So… the Pure Wand: it didn’t make me squirt, but it does make me moan. And I fucking love it.

Review: Lelo Ella

Lelo is basically my favorite company when it comes to vibrators, but I’ve long wondered what the Ella, the one dildo in their product line, would be like. And whether or not it would hold up to my Tantus dildos, because I heart Tantus to no end.

Ella looks just as elegant and discreet as any of Lelo’s other “pleasure objects.” I don’t dislike the way penises look, so I don’t specifically want my dildos to look as un-penis-like as possible. My typical preference in dildos is in between realistic and abstract. However, I definitely appreciate the discreet beauty of Ella. It doesn’t look like a dildo at all, and I’m confident that I can leave it lying around my room without my friends noticing it and making comments. Ella is made out of hard silicone. The toy really doesn’t have any give at all, except at the neck. I don’t really recommend bending it too much because of how thin the neck is. The silicone material is finished off with Lelo’s typical velvet matte, which feels great to touch. Before I jack off with Ella I always find myself fondling and caressing it just because the material feels so nice. Also, like other silicone toys, Ella is non-porous, pththalate-free, and can be shared. Just make sure to sterilize it with a 10% bleach solution, boil it, or throw it in the dishwasher (top drawer, no soap) before sharing.

Both ends of the dildo can be used: the G-spot end, that looks exactly like that of the Lelo Gigi, and the pointy end. I did not much like the pointy end. Why? Because just by looking at it, I completely expected that it would feel like my vagina was getting poked. And that’s exactly what it felt like. That end of the toy does have a nice curve to it, and feels quite filling and pleasant, but that point coupled with the hard silicone is just uncomfortable. Also, there are two tiny LELO insignias stamped onto either side of this end. Lube can easily get stuck there, which makes cleaning a little difficult. (I’d recommend using n old toothbrush.) This end makes for a nice handle, though. Well, except for when I try to grab onto it with lube-y hands. The smooth surface makes it extremely slippery when it’s lubed up.

The G-spot end was what I was most excited to try. Gigi was the toy that lead me to find and play with my G-spot for the first time, and actually have a G-spot orgasm (that I was aware of, anyway). I had high hopes that Ella would grace me with the same result. Like with the Gigi, I had to do some initial maneuvering in order to hit my G-spot. I typically push dildos inside me up to a certain depth, because that’s what feels the most comfortable. However, using the Gigi or Ella requires me to push just that little bit more. After that, however, Ella zeroes in on my G-spot perfectly. I’d been reading that there was a bit of a learning curve with Ella, and I found that to be true too. Its sharp curve catches on my public bone a little bit if I thrust hard and deep like I usually do, so I had to thrust shallowly, or use a sort of rocking motion, so that I was lightly pummeling my G-spot with the head of the toy. Once I figured out how to use it, though, I happily jacked off with Ella until I felt the familiar sensation of a G-spot orgasm washing over me; spreading over my body from deep within my cunt.

I don’t think it’s a toy for everyone, though. For one thing, it’s a bit on the small side. The shape is perfect for G-spotting, but I would almost prefer if the toy was a little thicker, just so that I could have more to clench around. And if you’re a size queen, the Ella probably wouldn’t be enough for you.

But Ella passed my test, alright. This toy makes me want to stretch out my wank session and really enjoy every minute of it.

Review: Tantus Curve

The Tantus Curve is the first Tantus dildo made with a wider base, designed for a better fit in a harness. Ever since I heard about it, I’ve been hankering to try it. Luckily for me, TabuToys sent me one to review

For those who don’t know -

Tantus products are hand made from a premium silicone blend (not compatible with silicone lube, and don’t store it next to other silicone toys), which is phthalate-free, bleachable, boilable and dishwasher-safe (if you’re not planning on sharing, simple soap and water will do), and pretty much super sweet.

It’s a very comfortable size – 6″ insertable and not overwhelmingly thick – and quite firm with some give, i.e. not floppy. The surface is a soft matte v.s. sleek and glossy. It also has a fairly pronounced head, and slight ridges.

Used vaginally, its curve does hit my G-spot, but not as spot-on as other Tantus G-spotting toys I have (the Acute and the Techno), and I had to thrust really hard with it – pretty much pound myself with it – in order to feel the most sensation. Though, I have been told by J that my G-spot is very “deep” which might have something to do with it. The ridges are subtle – not as intense as the Echo, for instance – but their presence is definitely noticeable and pleasant. I also tried using the Curve anally, but it was slightly too thick for me, so I ended up getting sore and stopping :/ The only dildo I actually use anally on a frequent basis is the Acute, which is quite tiny (5″ length, 1.25″ diameter). I can see the Curve being an excellent step-up from the Acute, once my butt is ready for it.

Okay, now that I’ve finally written as much as I can – the rest of the review is on video. I have terrible performance anxiety (yes, even if I’m not showing my face in the review) so I’ve only ever done one before, but the Curve needs a video review. It’s just that great.

…I tried the “pull test” (as patented by Backseat Boohoo), and it stood up tremendously. No matter how much I yanked, the Curve stayed put. As a good strapped-on dildo should.

I adore the new base. I hope that Tantus makes all the rest of its products (or, well, a good number of them at least) with this base. The only reason the Curve isn’t #1 on my list is that I can’t use it anally (yet). Otherwise, I absolutely love it.
