Review: ID Millennium

ID is one of my favorite lube brands, and for good reason. Just like vodka quality is judged by "purity", so does it go with me and lubes. ID Millennium? Is as pure as a lube can be: it doesn't smell like anything, it doesn't taste like anything, and instead of sticky residue, it leaves behind a slick softness. Kind of like if you just rubbed moisturizer into your hands.

This lube works very well with anal play, and is very long lasting. You only really need a couple of drops, so even though the bottle I received is tiny (1oz), I've used it multiple times and I've barely even used any up. The tiny bottle is also perfectly travel-sized.

I've read that this lube doesn't wash off in water, which at times is a negative thing because it makes it more difficult to get off my hands/toys post-wank-sesh, but that's the only complaint I have about this lube.

That's really all I have to say about this lube. It works. Just remember not to use it with silicone toys, since it will fuck up the toy.

Review: Wet Together Couples Lube

His 'n' hers: watches, perfumes, matching sweaters, and now - lubricant. Wet Together Couples Lube from Sextoy.com seriously trips my "hetero alarm," as I call it. When I first received the package, the first thing I said to F was "this is so damn hetero!" The product is completely gendered, right from the pink & blue bottles, complete with venus & mars symbols, down to the lubes' functions (cool & tingling for her, warming for him.) Then again, I don't really know what else I would have expected from a product like this. F's response to my grumblings was: "what did you expect them to do? Have a Person #1 and Person #2?" (Well, why not?) In any case, if you're a straight couple who likes romantic shit, you'll probably like Wet Together.

Rebel that I am, I didn't actually use Wet Together the way it was supposed to: she applies it to him, he applies it to her, and then the lubes are mixed together during mindblowing sexx. Or, as Wet Together's site puts it: "The intimate act of touching makes the connection. The two unite, body to body, heart to heart. Two exciting sensations…Become ONE…together™." Excuse me while I go make a cheese sandwich.

Hers (tingling): It does, indeed, feel cool & tingly. It makes my clit tingle, and, as a result, I am very aware of my clit. The tingling sensation straddles a very delicate line between arousing and annoying, almost like an itch you really want to scratch - which is actually an advantage. If you like titillation, you could apply it before going about your daily business. Or, you could apply it as foreplay and amplify every brush of fabric or flesh. So, it works - but I'm just not really a fan of the sensation, so I haven't used it much at all.

Smell: Faintly & plesantly fragrant.

Taste: Sweet, with a minty, bitter aftertaste.

Consistency: Thin & silky. Slightly sticky.

Material: Silicone-based. (Don't use with silicone toys.)

Ingredients: Dimethicone, cyclopentasilioxane, dimethiconoi, phenyl trimethicone, topopheryl acetate, peppermint extract.

His (warming): J, for certain reasons, didn't want to try this out. And so, I ambushed one of my guy friends when he came to visit me and got him to try it out in the bathroom. (Because that's what being friends with me means, apparently.) He rubbed it over and under the head of his dick, like you're supposed to (?), came back, and said he liked it and found it very pleasant. I tried it and found it didn't have as strong an effect on me as Hers did - basically vague stimulation without the coolness.

Smell: Nothing.

Taste: Hard candy that's overly sweet and has gotten stale.

Consistency: Same as Hers, but a little less watery.

Ingredients: Glycerin.

Combined: So, the idea is that you lube each other up, get all hot and bothered, and then have sex - i.e. insert glycerin-coated penis into vagina. This bothers me a little because glycerin + vag makes infections more likely. On the plus side, the consistency changes and becomes thicker & more viscous, though, and according to several other reviews I've read, that makes it a lot better to use. Also, cheesy as the product tagline might be, I can definitely see why this would be conducive to intimacy and bringing in more foreplay.

An annoying note: for some reason, the bottles are very leaky. I travelled with mine in a ziploc bag in my luggage, and after the journey, there was lube coating the inside of the ziploc. I don't know what causes this, since besides the non-cylindrical shape, the bottles don't look any different from other lubes I've used, but I have to be careful to store them standing upright.

I still think it's entirely possible to make a queer/gender-neutral version of this. Sleek bottles, one shimmering white, and one sparkly and clear. French labels, because French is supposed to be classy: Un & Deux. Same intimacy and complementary lube styles. C'mon, can't you see this happening?!

Anyway, I'm not sold on this lube because of the not-completely-body-safe ingredients, and because I am just not the kind of person to reach for it and use it during foreplay.

Review: Sliquid Organics Natural

It's been a while since a brand of lube has really wowed me. ID has been my go-to brand... until now. Sliquid has quickly become a fast favorite. I've been wanting to try out one of their lubes ever since I heard of their Organics line, and I was lucky enough to get a bottle of Sliquid Organics Natural from Babeland.com to try out.

I'm quite impressed by Sliquid as a company in general. They recently won an AVN award for outstanding lube; their lubes are all completely body safe: free of glycerin and parabens, 100% vegan, and can be used with condoms (i.e. none of their lubes are oil-based). Sliquid lubes are primarily marketed towards women. While some of this is a bit over the top at times ("the ultimate choice for people who love their body!", the main website is pastel pink, etc), I mostly appreciate their approach, especially after seeing so many stupid and condescending marketing ploys that are supposed to be attractive to women. I very much like the simple packaging labels and discreet lotus-venus-symbol logo. It doesn't scream "STEREOTYPICAL FEMININITY!" but is still pretty and elegant.

Their Organics line is, as the name suggests, completely organic, anti-animal testing... the bottle is even recyclable. If you're someone who is conscientious about the environment, and prefers to consume organic food & body products, you'll love this lube.

Sliquid Organics Natural is water-based, so can be used with any type of toy. It doesn't really smell or taste like anything - it's slightly bitter, and I can only smell a faint scent when I hold the bottle right up to my nose. The consistency was what I found most interesting: while some water-based lubes are very... watery, or sticky, this lube has an slight oil-like quality to it. Out of all the lubes I've tried, this lube feels the most similar to vaginal secretions.

The only downsides to this lube are: it dries out fairly quickly, which I discovered after using a few drops of it on my fingers while playing with my clit. It's also not thick enough for anal sex.

Overall, though, I really like this lube. Go do your part to help the planet, and buy some.

Review: ID Glide Lube

idgli13-250-1Finally another sex toy review from me - this time for lovely PinkCherry.com sex toys.

Lube is regarded by many as a staple during sex, and here's why:

1. Some women don't get wet, or don't get wet enough, and all women's wetness wears off after a few hours of sex. Anuses don't get wet at all. No lube = friction (not the good kind), soreness, and various discomfiture which one typically does not like to feel when one is having sex.

2. It feels fucking good. You don't just use it to keep things running smoothly. You can use it on your clit, during masturbation, etc.

And why use ID glide?

Well, besides being doctor-recommended and award-winning and all that, which is pretty savvy. ID glide is water-based, which means it can be used with pretty much every kind of material. I used it while masturbating (rubbing and using the Lelo Mia) and a tiny bit lasted for a damn long time. I also used it with the njoy Pure Plug and it worked like a charm - two "pumps" of lube to lube up the plug and my ass - I probably could have made do with one "pump".

The downside? ID glide boasts that it smells like nothing, yet the first time I used it I smelt a very strong plastic smell, although I've gotten used to it over time and don't notice it anymore. The lube itself is a bit sticky. And I'm not sure what to make of the pump design - it's convenient, but for some reason I make more of a mess using the pump than I do using typical squeezy bottles, but maybe that's just me.

Verdict - 4/5 :)
