I took Maymay's advice and left some comments for the organizers - I was probably not being direct enough about the poster design since I didn't get any responses to my comments about that, but they at least responded sort of positively to the performer aspect of it.

Definitely thought of helping organize for next time, but due to silly personal issues involving mutual acquaintances, I don't know how open they'd be to letting me help. I'm definitely in favor of putting aside minor grievances for something like this, though, so hopefully they'll be receptive if I make an effort.

I agree with Maymay. Bring your comments up to the person in charge. Maybe you can even get involved in planning, next time?

I don't think you're being hypercritical either. Under the circumstances I can see why they'd have a dress code and only advertise on fetlife, but the other issues you mentioned are just not cool. And once your local scene gets away with behaving that way a few times, they can start justifying their refusal to be more inclusive by saying 'this is the way we've always done it!' (not saying it's a good argument, just that it seems likely to be used).

I don't think you're being hypercritical and even if you are, so what? It is inordinately more difficult to retrofit a busted culture than it is to maintain a socially-aware and Priviledge-sensitive one. I hope you bring your critiques directly to the people who made the poor decisions you've highlighted so that your local Scene has a chance to not be full of the same bullshit as so many other places.

[...] Enforcing a strict fetish dress code; (Edit: Okay, actually, I take this back since I can sort of see why they’re doing it. There have been “fetish parties” in the city before, but they ended up being like regular club parties with a theme, like an 80s party or other kind of dress-up party, and the people who came were mostly just regular vanilla folk who posed with the spanking benches and took photos or whatever, and the kinky folk who showed up in latex or leather or whatever just ended up feeling out of place. I guess since there aren’t really any spaces in the city yet where people can dress up in fetish gear and not look awkward and out of place, they kind of need to do this.) [...]

I really wonder why some people use sex toys. Is there a big difference with human sex organ than this? How it differ?I'm really conscious about it. haha. However, its a choice for everyone. Just be safe as you use it.
